Community Street Theatre Tour

Choose from a selection of tour-tested shows with hundreds of fabulous costumes.  The acts are designed for community groups of up to 50 participants (age 13 years+) coached in the skills of movement work, coaxing out their own characters and creating quality street performers over 4-5 days of workshops and 1-2 days performing.  

Surge’s Community Street Theatre Tour is available to book for festivals and events in 2018 and 2019.  We offer a unique opportunity for festival/ events organisers and venues to bring our street theatre team to your local area to work with the local community.  Since 2012 we have reached over 25 locations, including Merchant City Festival, Inverness Street Theatre Festival, Surge Festival, Edinburgh College, Solas Festival and Mull Highland Games.  

As well as experienced direction and training from our established Director and Stage Manager, we’ll provide 50 specially made costumes for the acts and will deliver exciting street theatre workshops in the lead-up to the festival/ event, introducing participants to the basics of street performance.  Participants then have the chance to perform the acts on site as part of your festival/ event programme.  

Anyone can take part as long as they are 13 years + and we have worked with groups such as local youth theatres, amateur dramatics groups, schools, choirs, colleges and special needs groups.  The project is a fantastic way to involve local groups in your programme and have eye-catching, interactive street theatre as part of the event.
