'Tantalus' and 'A Pair of Genes'

TantalusA new solo choreographed by emerging disabled artist Neil Joseph Price.Tantalus was a Greek mythological figure made to stand in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree with low branches, with the fruit ever eluding his grasp. It follows Neil’s pre-occupation with the island on which he was born (South Uist) but his necessity as a Down’s syndrome man to live elsewhere. With specially commisioned music by Shooglenifty’s Quee MacArthur, and designed and directed by plan B’s award winning artistic director Frank McConnell.

A Pair of GenesDo you recognise this molecular structure? This is DNA. This is me. This is my DNA. I am not him. He is not me. We are…. not him or me.Performed by Neil Joseph Price and Frank McConnell. This new dance theatre duet, at times playful and comic, choreographed by Frank, will explore how our invisible genetic make-up contributes to a sense of identity. The two performers are related by blood but one will exhibit an additional chromosone in DNA analysis, and much more.  The show will have live music specially written by David Trouton.
