ChokKa's 4-to-the-floor Highland, Island & Lowland Tour, 2024.

ChokKa are a 3-piece live band. We’re skilled musicians with flowing, melodic lead guitar, synth bass, jazz-influenced keyboards and electronic drums. Our original music is influenced by modern dance music, jazz, funk, rock and more.  ChokKa create melodies, structures and rhythms for dancing and listening. Our unusual, happy and upbeat music has a wide appeal. We put on a complete show with lights, visuals and staging. We play everything live in our signature neon outfits!

ChokKa want to play the most fascinating venues in the most interesting places to the most up-for-it people we can find in Scotland. Is that you?

Coming from the west coast of Scotland we’ve had plenty of experience playing in unusual places, from front rooms to distilleries via Islands and bothies. Now we’re taking our joyful music and show around the country. We’re actively looking for unusual musical opportunities with lovely people in interesting places.

ChokKa have been gigging and recording together for a year, but all 3 members have previously gigged together for 6 years in a soul&funk covers band all over the West Coast. We just decided to stop playing songs and start writing for the dancefloor!

This year we have played at the Knockengorroch Festival in May and at various parties and events. We are currently available for most dates until December.

ChokKa are:

Caledonia Joynson; lead guitar, Edinburgh Napier Pop Music Graduate. Likes labradors, rocknroll and dancing.

Ruari Edmond; keyboards and synths, former member of the Scottish Youth Jazz Orchestra. Likes pirates, funk and dancing.

Tom Fisher; electronic drums. Likes kayaks, hiphop and dancing.
