ChokKa make happy sounds for the head, heart and feet, delivered in signature neon outfits and UV bling. ChokKa combine the energy of a live, loose, funky band with the electronic sounds of old-school dance music and the joyful inclusivity of the dance floor to get people moving. We look different and we sound different to other bands.
Formed by 3 experienced Scottish musicians with 30+ years of gigging experience between them in 2022, ChokKa have been playing together for parties and events up and down the country, including Knockengorroch Festival in 2024. Pre-ChokKa we all gigged together in a band for 5 years. ChokKa are based in Argyll and Glasgow.
ChokKa are a 3-piece live band. We’re skilled musicians with flowing, melodic lead guitar, synth bass, jazz-influenced keyboards and electronic drums. Our unusual, happy and upbeat music has a wide appeal. We put on a complete show with lights, visuals and staging. We play everything live! We can also come as a package with our own proper DJs playing proper Vinyl if you want to have a more extensive event. The band appeal to younger people, music lovers of any age, children and anyone who likes dancing.
Coming from the west coast of Scotland we’ve had plenty of experience playing in unusual places, from front rooms to distilleries via Islands and bothies. Now we’re taking our joyful music and show around the country. We’re actively looking for unusual musical opportunities with lovely people in interesting places. We’re used to small venues and rural spots.
ChokKa have been gigging together for 3 years, but all 3 members have previously played together for 5 years in a soul&funk covers band all over the West Coast. We just decided to stop playing songs and start writing for the dancefloor!
Last year we have played at the Knockengorroch Festival in May and at various parties and events throughout the year. In March 2025 ChokKa are hosting our own free conceptual party/mini-festival with DJs, visuals, art installations and general madness prior to getting out playing shows before the Festival season. We are currently available for most dates until December.

Ruari Edmond; keyboards and synths, former member of the Scottish Youth Jazz Orchestra. Likes pirates, funk and dancing.
Tom Fisher; electronic drums. Likes kayaks, hiphop and dancing.
