Alas! Poor Yorick
Hamlet meets Ridiculusmus. The gravediggers get a Stoppardian makeover in this expansion and exploration of 500 year old jokes in a largely silent physical comedy suitable for indoor or outdoor performance with or without local guests.
About the Show
A 70 minute physical comedy based on Shakespeare’s Gravediggers incorporating the entirety of the iconic Alas! Poor Yorick (Act V scene 1) scene with the possibility of working with local guest actors as Hamlet, Horatio, Claudius, Ophelia, Laertes and the priest. We are offering this largely silent mumble-speak expansion of Shakespeare’s original in the vein of Stoppard’s “Rosencrantz and Guildernstern are dead” as an indoor or outdoor performance, site specific with digging/ in a graveyard / in a theatre as best fits your needs. 2-3 people on the road, extremely portable with a comical tech rider including a spade and wheelbarrow as they don’t fit in overhead luggage.
