Through my research I became fascinated by Macready and his story is one I feel driven to tell. Not only was Macready best friends with Charles Dickens and fierce rival to Edmund Kean, he also did so much to shape the theatre of today. The show is full of drama, humour, and emotion, and would appeal to those interested in theatre, showbusiness, history, the Victorian period, and/or a true – but little-known – story, passionately and faithfully told.

The show is proven, fully-formed, meticulously researched, has been touring around the UK since September 2022, and has received excellent reviews.

Touring availability is from 1st February to 30th November 2026 and also continuing from Jan 2027.

Whilst not aimed at children, it is family-friendly and the minimum recommended age is 12+.

The show can be performed straight-through in 80 minutes or an interval can be inserted after 40 minutes.

It is a small scale show (1 performer in Victorian period costume with a small number of period props and furniture).

Assume a one-show engagement, but happy to consider more.
