Most Peculiar Dreams is an original Irish Musical by Fergus Foran. Set in 1950’s New York, the show examines how chance encounters and small interventions, can influence a person’s fate. It tells a heart-warming story reflecting on love, family, friendships and how we triumph over loss. The show is centred around Irish American high school graduate Shawn Donnelly Junior as he pursues a career in the New York club scene. Will he find fame and fortune or maybe even true love? Or will he find all that glitters is not gold? This show is more a Play communicated through the mediums of theatre and music as it is a traditional ‘Musical’. Most Peculiar Dreams completed a successful tour of Ireland in 2022. They played the Helix in Dublin in 2023 and 2024 to full houses. Songs from their Album have been streamed over 1 million times across all digital platforms.
FADER – There’s something refreshingly different about the new Irish Musical ‘Most Peculiar Dreams’. The use of dance as a means to communicate the story helped transport the audience to that almost familiar dream state the show sets out to create. There are so many gems in this show. They are as much a part of the story as every written word. From the Shakespearean reference to the Sycamore Tree in Henrietta Harmon [Desdemona in Othello] to the nod to Bogart and Bob Hope in Café of life there’s plenty to reflect upon and plenty of ‘earworms’ to take home. Lullaby and I stood Beside You stood out for me capturing tragic loss and the healing process which follows. Also, anyone who has lost a parent would find it hard not to shed a tear during ‘Daddy Can You Hear Me?’ .
