We provide a balanced and varied offering for our patrons which combines a curated mix of ambitious, high quality professional performing arts and music events alongside a vibrant rental programme of schools and community projects, academy productions as well as conferences. It is this unique mix that makes The Civic such a vibrant place for all and for everyone.
A strategic priority is our work for and with families and early years. The Civic collaborates closely with calibre artists in this field to generate pioneering, multi-artist, multi-venue projects. 2018 witnessed a year long residency with Monkeyshine Theatre Company, a national tour of I Am Baba, the annual Ready Steady Show! commissioning festival and ‘Moon Woke Me Up’, a multi-location interactive project commissioned and produced by The Civic.
We have two fully resourced performance spaces; the Main Auditorium (seating 280) and The Civic Studio Theatre (seating up to 65). We also house a visual arts gallery space on the second floor with further display capacity throughout the foyer plus a relaxing restaurant on site which serves all day tea and coffee as well as breakfast, lunch and pre-theatre menus.
Located in Tallaght at the north side of The Square Shopping Centre (at the end of the RED Luas line), The Civic exists to embellish the lives of the 280,000 populous living and working in the South County Dublin region.
The Civic is grant aided by South Dublin County Council, The Arts Council and Creative Ireland.
