Mike McKenzie

Mike McKenzie is an award winning singer/songwriter and producer based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

In 2019 McKenzie was named BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Singer/Songwriter of the Year’ by a panel of industry professionals including Fran Healy, Karine Polwart, Horse McDonald and Geoff Ellis. While the live sector struggled throughout the pandemic in 2020, he reverted back to focussing on songwriting and developing his sound as an artist, landing somewhere between Tom Odell, David Gray, Luke Sital-Singh and Ben Abraham.

McKenzie’s heartfelt lyrics and melodies are always front and centre in his songwriting, described as “Gorgeous” by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 and “Absolutely Stunning” by Grant Stott on Radio Scotland. This past year he sold out two headline shows at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh, co-curated Sofar Edinburgh’s Pride Show and performed on BBC Radio Scotland’s iconic live music show ‘The Quay Sessions’ with Roddy Hart for their Edinburgh Fringe Special.

Alongside his solo work, he also provides lead vocals for collaborative studio outfit ‘PJ Moore & Co.’ with legendary synth player PJ Moore (The Blue Nile) and award winning composer/producer Malcolm Lindsay.
