PenPal Productions

Penpal Productions was founded by graduates of the MSc Playwriting course at Edinburgh University, Jane Sunderland, Jill Franklin and Mellony Flinn.

Our aim is to produce our own work, with the focus on women, neurodiversity and positive ageing. These characteristics are all relevant to us personally  and as a group. All three are also still underrepresented in theatre and our work aims to address this.

For Better, For Worse, by Jill Franklin was successfully premiered at the 2023 Fringe with a raft of positive reviews. It was their second successful Fringe run after The Lament of Dorothy Wordsworth, by Jane Sunderland, in 2019. This subsequently toured to Cockermouth and Maryport as part of the celebrations to mark the  250th anniversaryof Dorothy’s birth and to the Swallow Theatre, in Dumfries and Galloway as part of the Wigtown Book Festival.
