This marks the completion of nearly 18 months of work by our (very small) design and technical team and even longer in planning and fundraising.

There are many changes – but here are the most immediately obvious when using the platform –

New – Individual Accounts

Tourbook has a new way to manage your account and your content – based around an individual user account. This means that, however you work, you can collaborate more flexibly and explore the platform content in full, without restrictions. We’ve introduced this change to provide greater flexibility for people working across the sector to join and participate in diverse or multiple roles.

Additional Touring Roles

We now support a far wider range of roles including support for previously under- represented roles including:

  • Agents, producers and freelance tour-bookers and tour managers (including those working with multiple performers);
  • Resource Organisations – broadening our existing support for networks to more types of organisation;
  • Service Providers – a place for those who provide other support to the performing arts such as technicians, admin roles, communications and more.

Public Visibility & Sharing

Perhaps the most obvious change – is support for non-logged-in page visibility for content across the site (excluding people and contact details). We’ve also made it more easy to share Tourbook content to your networks through external links – as well as more easily contribute to the accuracy of data on the platform – by easily flagging if anything doesn’t look right.

Support for Programming & Artistic Policies

We’ve introduced new page features to strengthen the quality of programming information – enabling programmers to include information about artistic policies, seasons, lead-in times, exclusions and deals.

Venue Page Improvements

This update also brings a new integration to benefit programming venues – enabling programming information and technical venue data to live in a single page – but still be searchable/filterable as both a venue or a programmer.

Everything here has been underpinned by a complete technical refactoring of the platform – which now provides an leaner and more lightweight development environment, enabling ongoing platform additions and improvements to be delivered in a more efficient and sustainable way.

All features remain free to use and can be accessed by anyone involved in live performance across the UK and Ireland.

Thank you to Arts Council England, Creative Scotland and Scottish Enterprise for making this possible.

Thanks for using Tourbook.
