The Flames Firebrand Tour

The Flames is Tricky Hat Productions’ performance company, by and for people over 50 in Scotland.

The Firebrand Tour is a new piece of devised theatre that will combine film, music and performance to explore stories about life after 50, presenting a fresh look at how we approach ageing. This performance was inspired to include Japanese influences following two recent visits to Japan supported by British Council Scotland and Creative Scotland. The Japanese voices heard through the performance will reflect on life, experiences, familiar smells and ideas, touching on the devastating tsunami which claimed many lives in Natori in 2011.   

The themes for the tour have emerged from real-stories, ideas and dreams, shared by Flames participants during Guerrilla Events (comprising five workshop sessions, one day of dress rehearsals and one day of performances, all in one venue). The director, a musician and a digital artist worked with The Flames to explore these themes and create a performance that connected participants’ ideas and stories with the audience.
