Macbeth The Red and The Magic of Oz

The Walking Theatre Company invite you to join them on a magical, mystical adventure through Shakespeare’s quintessential Scottish play, available as touring show to venues, or as a digital performance. 

Taking audiences of all ages in the community on a journey both physically and creatively, a Walking Theatre production offers a theatrical experience like no other. Immerse yourself in the great outdoors, explore your imagination and watch your venue become the setting of a creative adventure. The show will take place over a gentle walk through any location – from woodland to estate gardens, village to townscape, Clachan to Kirkyard, any venue can become a theatre venue with The Walking Theatre Company! Our touring productions will adhere to all COVID-19 related guidelines in place at the time and location of the performance.

Walking Theatre productions are usually outdoor shows, however we can perform indoors using different rooms/spaces as our stage – we can also incorporate a space such as a community centre or village hall as our collection point for the start of the show, before commencing the outdoor walk. 

In our wicked adaptation of the ultimate Scottish play served with a twist: Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ – A man who would be King, sets out to take a crown, whilst his wicked Lady leads her Lord on a merry dance…

Our First Lady, ‘Gruoch Macbeth’, Granddaughter of the mighty King Kenneth III, takes control, and leads her own Lord on a merry dance. Step back through time into a world of magic, murder, intrigue and monarchy as you walk in the footsteps of the real ‘Red King’, Mormaer Macbeth, Earl of the Province of Moray.

This production of Macbeth The Red incorporates Scottish Gaelic, introducing basic phrases whilst interacting with our audience, offering the opportunity for them to aid the characters on their missions using the Gaelic phrases taught within the show.
