Burns Banter – Your Bard! is a deep dive into the parts of Robert Burns life the scholars don’t want you to know about. There are great stories about drinking clubs and competitions Robert was involved in and some of the funniest poems he ever wrote. Throw in a couple of drinking songs and a poem about a hangover and you are starting to understand what you can expect. This show is based on the popular podcast ‘Burns Banter’ which takes a fresh look at the life and works of Robert Burns. There are two series of Burns Banter available, (completely free), with a third in the making. The first series looks at individual poems and songs, explains the thoughts behind the poems, talks about the people and places in them and sometimes even tells you why Robert wrote them. The second series goes through Roberts life from birth to death, giving insights into his life long struggles and victories.
