Maiden | Mother | Whore is a multi-disciplinary mixed-media performance/exhibition that explores the complex relationships between women, social structures, health and social policies, and institutions. Maiden | Mother | Whore – Low-Tech Accessible Tour
Theiya Arts presents Maiden | Mother | Whore, an intimate and thought-provoking multi-disciplinary performance and exhibition, now available as a Full-tech and a low-tech, accessible touring production designed for rural venues, community spaces, and non-traditional performance settings.
Exploring the lived experiences of women through the lens of Transnational Intersectional Feminism, this work weaves together dance, spoken word, visual media, and soundscapes to examine the tensions between individuals and collectives, agency and power, and oppression and resistance. Rooted in real narratives and developed in collaboration with academics from the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at The University of Edinburgh, this project bridges the gap between research, artistic expression, and public discourse. The development of the production was supported by The National Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and Dance Base, Edinburgh. Â
