'Terre' The Music of Scotland's Sonic Landscape

Blending collected sounds of nature with harp, voice, piano and French horn, Aurora Engine presents a series of environmentally inspired electroacoustic compositions: Expect pitch-shifting blackbirds, rhythmic honey bees, ‘sonic trees’ and ocean soundscapes amongst beautiful, beguiling songs. Commissioned by Sound Festival (2022), this sonic exploration of Scottish landscape explores how artists can respond to the Climate Crisis through their work. This work was selected for the Made In Scotland Showcase 2023.  Shaw invites audiences to participate by donating nature and voice recordings in advance. 

Fusing real instruments, voice and progressive electronica, Aurora Engine’s work encapsulates a singular and striking auditory world. ‘

“This work was created whilst living alone as a single mother, navigating my way through the new landscape of motherhood, dealing with postnatal anxiety. Unable to access music-making as I had previously, I turned to the nature, sound and music technology, building my own unique sonic microcosm”.

Deborah offers a series of environmental inspired vocal and instrumental workshops as part of an outreach provision as part of this work which can be delivered in tour locations for children and or adults.
