Sir Tom Watton

Tom was born and brought up in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Tom was given the title Sir Tom Watton, by local poet, artist and designer Graham Rhodes. Tom has been based in Edinburgh, Scotland, since 2010.

Tom has supported Jon Gomm and Toby Jepson (Little Angels/Wayward Sons), and following a successful musical partnership with Phil Simpson (now Strada Music) supported Waterson Carthy in the Hull (Barton-upon Humber) leg of  their Wintour. 

Tom’s music resonates with any audience, bringing a range of genre’s from soulful autobiographical nostalgia to new arrangements of 16th Century folk ballads. Tom has appeared at a diverse range of gigs and events, from cutting edge art festivals to village hall craft fairs, always winning over an audience, with his voice, personality and his unique guitar craft.

Tom has written in a variety of styles, including comedy, but he mostly composes folk influenced acoustic songs. As a double bass player and bass player Tom has accompanied a variety of acts both in recording and live performances, including Lo Bird, the Duke of Norfolk, Caro Bridges and the River, Calum Carlyle and many others.

Tom’s releases; The Collection, The Coupland and the Amelia, have been selected for and played on numerous community radio stations across the UK.
